The Scots language didn’t have much of an LGBTQ+ lexicon. So writer and performer Dr Harry Josephine Giles decided to create one.

Read more about Josie’s work on the LGBTQ+ lexicon, including a lot more terms, at bit.ly/lgbtscots.

There are some previous Allusionist episodes that go alongside this episode, including:
Oot in the Open, about the Scots language, oppressed for hundreds of years and even people of my generation were beaten at school for using it.
Queer, about the changing usage of the word ‘queer’.
Two Or More, covering a turbulent 70 years of the word ‘bisexual’.
And for Pride month, there’s this early episode about the choice of the word ‘pride’.
